Getting Started Guide

How to Use SCA Prep

Everything you need to know to get the most out of the AI Tutor, SCA Cases Generator, and AI Roleplays โ€” your complete toolkit for SCA exam success.

Your 24/7 Study Companion

The AI Tutor

Chat with an AI trained on NICE UK guidelines, primary care protocols, and SCA exam requirements โ€” anytime, anywhere.

1

Start a conversation

Navigate to AI Tutor from the top menu or sidebar. Type any clinical question โ€” the tutor responds with evidence-based answers grounded in UK guidelines.
2

Practice clinical reasoning

Ask about differential diagnoses, management plans, or red flags. The tutor walks you through clinical reasoning the way a senior GP would, helping you build a structured approach.
3

Get guideline clarifications

Unsure about a NICE guideline or BNF recommendation? Ask the tutor directly. It pulls from current UK clinical guidance and explains it in an exam-relevant context.
4

Review your chat history

All conversations are saved automatically. Use the sidebar to revisit past chats and review topics you've already covered โ€” useful for spaced repetition before the exam.

Be specific with your questions

Instead of "Tell me about diabetes," try "What's the NICE recommended first-line treatment for newly diagnosed type 2 diabetes in primary care?" โ€” you'll get a sharper, exam-relevant answer.

Use it on the go

The AI Tutor works on any device. Use it on your phone between clinics or on your desktop at home โ€” your chat history syncs across devices.

Realistic Consultation Practice

The AI Roleplays

Practice with life-like AI patients that speak naturally โ€” simulating realistic SCA consultations so you feel confident on exam day.

1

Test your microphone first

Before your first session, visit the Microphone Test page. This ensures your audio input works correctly. You only need to do this once.
2

Browse and pick a case

Go to AI Roleplays to see all available cases. Filter by SCA domain (e.g. Managing Medical Complexity, Working with Colleagues) to target specific areas. Each case shows its domain and a brief overview.
3

Study with the Learn tab

Each case has a Learn tab and a Practise tab at the top. Start with Learn to study the case before jumping in. It covers structured guidance on data gathering, screening questions, examination findings, differentials, management, and safety-netting โ€” so you know what to aim for during the consultation.
4

Practise with the AI patient

Switch to the Practise tab to start the live consultation. You'll see patient notes just like in the real SCA. When ready, start speaking โ€” the AI patient responds in real time with a natural voice. Treat it exactly like a real consultation: open the dialogue, explore the patient's ideas, concerns, and expectations.
5

Engage naturally

The AI patient listens and responds dynamically. It can express emotions โ€” including frustration or anxiety โ€” just like real patients. Practice empathy, active listening, and structured consultation skills in a safe, repeatable environment.
6

Get instant AI marking

After you finish the consultation, our AI evaluates your performance against RCGP marking criteria and UK guidelines. You receive detailed feedback on data gathering, clinical management, and interpersonal skills โ€” with specific areas for improvement.
7

Use the Case Tutor

After your consultation, open the AI Case Tutor panel for a deeper debrief. Ask it questions about the case, explore alternative management approaches, or clarify guidelines โ€” all in the context of the case you just practised.

Learn first, then practise

Review the Learn tab before attempting a case โ€” understanding the expected approach, key differentials, and safety-netting points will help you score higher and build better consultation habits.

Use headphones for best results

A headset with a built-in microphone minimises background noise and gives the clearest voice recognition. Avoid speakerphone in noisy environments.

Repeat cases to build confidence

Don't just do each case once. Revisit difficult cases after reviewing your feedback โ€” repetition is key to improving consultation flow and hitting marking criteria.

Unlimited Case Generation

The SCA Cases Generator

Generate comprehensive, exam-style SCA cases on demand โ€” covering all 12 domains with full patient notes, consultation notes, and mark schemes.

1

Open the generator

Head to SCA Cases from the navigation. Choose a clinical domain or topic, and the AI generates a complete exam-style case for you.
2

Review the full case

Each generated case includes patient notes (the information you'd see before the consultation), detailed consultation notes, and a structured mark scheme aligned with RCGP criteria โ€” ready for self-assessment or study group practice.
3

Save and download

Save cases to your account for later review, or download them as PDFs. Build a personal case bank covering topics you find most challenging.
4

Share with study partners

Generated cases can be shared with your study partners. Practice together โ€” one person plays the patient while the other consults using the generated notes.

Cover all 12 SCA domains

Use the domain filter to systematically generate cases across all examination areas. Don't just practise your strongest topics โ€” target your weaknesses.

Pair with AI Roleplays

Generate a case, review the notes, then practise a similar scenario with an AI Actor. This combination of written and verbal practice mirrors the full SCA experience.
