What are the AI roleplays?

The AI roleplays are 121 SCA-style consultations with voice-based AI patients. You read the notes, speak to the patient as you would in surgery, and the consultation is marked against the RCGP’s three SCA domains as soon as you finish. Every case is written for the SCA’s 12-minute format, and the patients can hold information back, interrupt or push back, so you practise a real conversation rather than a checklist.

Which parts of the SCA do the cases cover?

Cases are mapped to the RCGP clinical experience groups the exam samples from. Many cases count towards more than one group.

  • Patients Under 19 · 17 cases
  • Gender, Reproductive & Sexual Health · 26 cases
  • Long-Term Conditions, Cancer & Disability · 54 cases
  • Older Adults & End of Life · 21 cases
  • Mental Health & Addiction · 26 cases
  • Urgent & Unscheduled Care · 29 cases
  • Health Disadvantages & Vulnerabilities · 31 cases
  • Ethnicity, Culture, Diversity & Inclusivity · 10 cases
  • New Presentation of Undifferentiated Disease · 37 cases
  • Prescribing · 62 cases
  • Investigations & Results · 28 cases
  • Professional Conversations & Dilemmas · 25 cases
  • Population Health & Prevention · 12 cases

How is each consultation marked?

After you hang up, the transcript is marked in the three SCA domains: data gathering and diagnosis, clinical management and medical complexity, and relating to others. You get a grade, what you did well, the moments you missed and practical wording to use next time. See a sample marked consultation.

How much do AI roleplays cost?

Each consultation uses one credit. The Practice plan (£35 a month) includes 15 credits a month, Intensive (£95) 50 and Mastery (£150) 100, and unused credits stay valid for a year. One full case is free to try, with marking and no card needed. Compare the plans.

AI roleplay questions

Do I need a microphone?
Yes. The patient listens and replies by voice, so you need a working microphone, ideally with headphones. Run the microphone check before your first case.
Can I try a case before paying?
Yes. One full case is free, with marking, and no card is needed.
Does it work on my phone?
Yes. The roleplays run in a mobile browser, and the SCA Prep iPhone app is a free download from the App Store.
Will the AI patients understand my accent?
They are designed to understand a wide range of English accents, including those of IMG candidates, so you can speak naturally. A clear microphone and a quiet room give the best results.
